Greetings everyone!
It's your chronically sleep-deprived corset enthusiast! (Seriously, when do babies start sleeping? LOL)
It has been a while since I last posted an update on my sister - and I have some fantastic news, she is out of the ICU! 🎉 Our family is collectively breathing a sigh of relief. My sister still has months of physio and other recovery ahead of her, but she's working hard every day (and also prioritizing rest in between), highly motivated to recover as quickly as her body lets her. After innumerable scans and even genetic testing, there was no underlying reason for her to have been susceptible to sepsis in the first place, it was just a freak occurrence and maybe the result of chronic stress and burning the candle at both ends.
Stretching oneself too thin and overcommitting to the point of burnout is a trait she and I both share (seriously, I share on Patreon how my toxic trait is overwork and I didn't take a single day of mat leave). Many of you readers can probably attest that I reply to emails on Sundays, early mornings, late evenings... and my sister (who is relatively young and has previously been the picture of health) being so close to losing her life has been a sobering wake-up call how we as a society place too much virtue in productivity. There's even a term for "death from overwork" in Japanese: Karōshi.
We erroneously "appraise" people by how much they're able to contribute to their family and community, while undervaluing the importance of moderation, healthy boundaries, and rest as a physiological need and a basic human right.
Stepping off my soapbox now...
Corset Updates
This past week on my Patreon for $5+ supporters, I released a new article describing my new role as a 'corset stylist' this upcoming season, explaining the process of choosing fashion fabrics suitable for OTR corsetry and some of the surprising things to consider. I've also got another Patreon post in the pipeline where I'll be going over other components of the design process apart from the fabric itself, which should be released in a week or two. Join now so you won't miss it!
This week my VA and I have something different for you - a crossword puzzle instead of a word search! Test your knowledge of different corset fabrics. See this puzzle and more in the Fun & Games section of my site!
The new colorway of the week is a light hearted vintage style fruit tree, scroll below the puzzle to see! If that's not your jam, the Emerald Brocade colorway is back just in time for you to grab it before St. Patrick's day! Since these corsets are made-to-order, we wanted to give you LOTS of time. There is still a little time for you to grab the Hearts corsets before Valentine's day, though ❤️
If you missed any previous announcements, remember you can check out the newsletter archive on my site.
