HELP SHAPE THE FUTURE OF TENANT ENGAGEMENT!

You’ll have recently received a letter from us about an exciting fresh start for tenant engagement at Cairn. We’re looking at new ways to involve tenants to make sure your voice is heard.

This spring, we’ll be running a series of events to find out exactly what you think.

If you’d like to take part, let us know how you’d prefer to get involved—whether through online or face-to-face focus groups, or by completing a survey. Click here to register your interest.

We want to hear from as many tenants as possible to make sure our approach truly reflects what matters to you. We look forward to hearing from you!

KEEPING SAFE IN YOUR HOME

We have created a brand-new Health & Safety Handbook, designed to help you make your home as safe as possible. It has been sent to all tenants alongside the rent increase letters.

The handbook serves as a practical guide for you, offering valuable information on various aspects of home safety. It outlines both the measures we, as a landlord, undertake – such as installing smoke detectors and conducting regular gas and electrical safety checks – and the steps tenants can take to protect themselves and their home.

TAX CREDITS ARE ENDING SOON!

There are still hundreds of people on Tax Credits, but this benefit will be coming to an end on 5th April.

If you are currently receiving Tax Credits, you should have received a letter by the Department of Work and Pensions to tell you that you must switch to Universal Credit. This switch will NOT happen automatically; you need to apply. It is very important that you do not ignore this letter or your benefits could be cut off.

If you need any help or advice in switching over to Universal Credit, then please get in touch. Our dedicated benefits team are on hand to help you out.

RTS SWITCH OFF

The Radio Teleswitch Service switch off is on the way! From June these electricity meters will be obsolete and anyone with these meters should act now or could risk their energy costs rising. Find out more about the switch off and how it could affect you in this video.

SOCIAL EVENTS AT OUR COURTS!

Tenants at our courts have been keeping busy! Gilmour Court have been taking part in a pottery course, Aitkin Court had a boogie when local singers Vice Versa came to visit, Calum Macdonald enjoyed a lively Burns Night celebration, and tenants at Adam Grossert Court made the most of having to stay indoors during Storm Eowyn and baked some tasty goodies to share with their fellow residents!

CAIRN GETS READY TO WELCOME ANCHO TENANTS

We’re pleased to share that from 1st April, Ancho will officially become part of Cairn Housing Association, following a tenant vote late last year.

Ancho, a housing association based in North Ayrshire, has been in a constitutional partnership with Cairn since 2018.

Over the years, we have worked closely together to provide quality homes and services. Now, with the full transfer, Ancho’s nearly 700 tenants will become Cairn tenants, ensuring a more streamlined and efficient service for everyone.

For our existing Cairn tenants, this means our Cairn community is growing, and we look forward to welcoming our new tenants in North Ayrshire. We are committed to continuing our strong service and support for all tenants, old and new.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE: £111K GAINED FOR TENANTS!

Our Welfare Benefits team do amazing work for our tenants every day.

In January they helped 55 tenants gain over £111,000 in additional income, which will make a considerable difference to their lives.

It’s lovely to see the garden wake up after a long winter. Spring is the perfect time to get your garden tidy and ready for the growing year ahead!

ENERGY ADVICE FROM CHANGEWORKS

We've partnered with Changeworks, to help you out with your energy! The service is free and gives you access to energy information, advice, support and advocacy. One-to-one support is also available to those who need it most.

We know that managing your energy bills can be worrying and, at times, confusing. The service aims to help you stay affordably warm at home and includes:

Access to their online advice library
Regular emails or letters over the coming months around energy advice
Access to telephone advice for more in-depth support
Tailored one-to-one support if you have more complicated problems such as energy billing issues or debt

CAIRN STAFF RAISE OVER £1,000 FOR FOODBANK!

Cairn staff came together at Christmas to support those in need, raising an incredible £1,155 through a festive raffle. In addition to the funds, we also delivered a car boot full of food donations to help stock the shelves.
