Ki te kotahi te kakaho, ka whati; If a reed stands alone it can be broken; ki te kapuia, e kore e whati. if it is in a group, it cannot.
The Wellington Regional Leadership Committee is a union of local government, central government, and mana whenua leaders of the Wellington-Horowhenua-Wairarapa Region. The Committee exists to embed joined-up, systems-level thinking across our region for better shared outcomes, to build communities where we want to live and work.
Our work programme has three key interdependent areas of responsibility: The Wellington Regional Growth Framework (spatial planning), regional economic development, and regional economic recovery. Spatial planning underpins economic development and recovery, so these three areas are addressed cohesively.
The Committee has been established following 18 months of work
developing the Wellington Regional Growth Framework, a joint spatial
plan.
This collaborative partnership has been progressed as part of the Government's Urban Growth Agenda, to improve co-ordination and alignment between central and local government and mana whenua in New Zealand's high growth areas.
