A Message from EWA

In such an uncertain time in the world, EWA Travel staff and management are committed more than ever to our clients. Throughout this global crisis, EWA agents have and will continue to support your staff. We strive to be a reliable resource to aid both your international and domestic staff with any trips.

Recently, the U.S. State Department has advised Americans against any international travel amid the COVID-19 outbreak. EWA Travel agents are on standby and have acted accordingly to ensure travelers are properly advised with the procedures on cancelations, changes, and returning home safely.

Internally, EWA Travel staff are working remotely to ensure we are doing our part to limit in the spread of the virus. While working remotely, EWA agents are accessible via phone and email, should you require any assistance.

As we continue to navigate through this uncertain time, one thing remains constant — EWA Travel's commitment to offering the same level of high quality, personalized service.

Being that we're in such an uncertain time in our lives, it's of the utmost importance for all of us to stay abreast of the latest information regarding COVID-19. For that exact reason, we have compiled a list of resources on our website for you and your travelers to refer back to. Please visit our site for more information. 

More than 90% of people live under travel restrictions

Most countries and territories have set entry restrictions as a result of COVID-19. According to Pew Research, 93% of the world’s population now lives in countries or territories that are the subject of travel restrictions. Forbes offers an updated list of restrictions around the globe.

Loyalty programs extended into 2021

U.S. airlines' most recent response to the COVID-19 pandemic may ease your mind about your current status. For example, United Airlines is extending current members’ MileagePlus Premier status through January 2022. Delta has also followed suit and is extending its SkyMiles Medallion Members’ status. Reuters has more information. 

United extends travel waiver

United has decided to extend its Coronavirus travel waiver through the end of 2020. With this, customers will be able to purchase tickets anytime in 2020 and make changes without a fee as well as making cancellations that will result in a voucher to use for future travels. 

Up in the air

In case you're curious to know what traveling at this time looks like, some of our clients have offered us some first-hand experience. The airlines and airports are doing everything they can in order to ensure the safety of travelers. Travelers have reported that most restaurants and stores are closed within airports around the globe. Additionally, travelers have found themselves with empty seats next to them to minimize contact with other travelers.

COVID-19 Resources

Still overseas?

The U.S. Department of State offers some resources for citizens that are still abroad. If you're still outside of the U.S. and have questions regarding emergency assistance or guidance on returning to the U.S., visit the Department of State's website.

World Health Organization

The World Health Organization offers one of the most comprehensive lists of resources on the COVID-19 pandemic. For the most updated list, please visit the WHO's site.

Country-specific information

The U.S. Department of State has also offered COVID-19 country-specific information on its website. While offering entry/exit requirements, the State Department provides local resources for any travelers that need any additional assistance.

Planning to travel later in the year?

On Tuesday, April 7, TSA reported the number of daily travelers in the US dropped below 100,000, a 95% reduction from a year ago.  Domestic aircraft are operating at less than 10% of the seats filled on a plane. Bloomberg offers some more insight into what to expect should you still be planning to travel later on in the year.

Humentum is a global membership organization that offers a wide variety of resources to NGOs, nonprofits and other similar organizations. HHumentum is currently offering virtual roundtables and other helpful resources regarding the current epidemic.
