October turned out to be a busy autumnal month at SSEN with several themed events taking place this month!

In October:

• we met up for a walk at Parc Valéro Les Écarts.  The accompanying doggos had a great time!
• our 50+ members enjoyed a fun trip to Inverness to celebrate Thanksgiving with a luncheon with the MCDC members.
• we tried out a new activity, Games Night!
• we met some of the younger members of our community at our Halloween Bash for kids where we made some fun crafts and ate yummy snacks!

The municipal general elections are taking place on November 7th. 

Voting stations are open from 9.30am - 8pm.

It is important to check the address of the voting location before travelling, as the location may be different for each voting day. A voter can only vote at their assigned polling place.

All the information on the polling places, the polling station and the polling subdivision is available on the reminder card sent by mail and on online here.

The first week of November is National Caregivers Week. Join us in saying thank you to all Caregivers.

This year, Financial Literacy Month will focus on the renewed National Financial Literacy Strategy and the importance of building financial resilience in challenging times and a digital economy.

New for this month!  Let's brunch!  

Join us for a casual Sunday late morning brunch - perfect timing so you can have a lazy weekend lie in!

We'll all meet up at Café du Marché.  Please let us know that you're coming in advance so that we can reserve a table for the correct number of people.  The table will be booked under the name "South Shore English Network".  The staff will be able to lead you to our table, and if in doubt, listen out for the English voices and you'll be able to find us!

This month we will be walking at Parc de la Rivière Etchemin.  This is an 8.7km long path with views of the river which is good for all skill levels and acccessible to strollers.  It's an out and back path so we will walk for as long as we like and then turn back.  Don't forget to wrap up warm now that the weather is getting chillier.

Unfortunately dogs are not permitted to join us for this walk.  

There is free parking available.  The nearest bus stop is "Station Rivière Etchemin" which is a 10 minute walk away.

Please note, in case of rain (or maybe even snow!), we will revaluate the weather and either postpone or cancel.  We will inform you by email or phone and via Facebook.

Are you a fan of board games?  Would you like to play with some new opponents?  Socialise, chat, meet new people and enjoy some competitive fun!  This is an excellent chance for those wishing to practise and improve their English to come along and do so.   

We are trying out a slightly different format to last month.  Please bare with us while we work out the best ways to offer the most engaging activities!  This month, we'd love it to come from the community - bring your games, bring your enthusiasm and personality and the fun will follow naturally!  Please bring your own beverages and SSEN will cater the nibbles!

Calling those aged 50+!  Our Social Meetup is a great opportunity to socialise and chat over a cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate.  SSEN will be providing games, nibbles and refreshments.

Please note the change of day from Tuesday to Monday.  We have decided to align ourselves with MCDC and organisations on the north shore to offer our activities for the 50+ community on Mondays from now onwards.

13 - 14 November

The Cercle de Fermières Saint-Nicolas invite you to their Christmas Market. Come and admire the achievements of the members and you will be able to purchase various items from some thirty exhibitors-craftsmen. Embroidery, knitting, jewellery, sewing, weaving and more.

The market will be at the Community Centre, 550 rue de La Sorbonne Lévis ( Saint-Nicolas) from 10am - 4pm.
