Hey Mori crew,

You people are absolutely amazing! 🥳 Remember how I said that the weeks before our break were mental? Well during our first week back we received the same amount of film we had received during those last 3 weeks before our holidays… and it hasn’t stopped since.

Which leads to the next point: delays. Since we opened in December 2020 we’ve pretty much always have been able to deliver on our promised super fast turnaround. Today this is not the case anymore, as we have about 1 week of delay. We’re working hard on reducing it but it might take another few weeks before we’re back to normal turnaround times. I’ll explain lower in this email why that is the case. ⏰

Apart from spending all our time developing we’ve actually had loads of other things happening. We hosted a Lomo walk and dev course in partnership with Lomography which was a big success. We reached 10 000 followers on Instagram and we’ve worked on organising a few new events that we hope you will like.

We’ve also planned some extra workshops that you can find here:

Darkroom printing

“Cette photo a été prise cet été, durant le voyage où mon appareil numérique a rendu l’âme. Me voilà donc à la découverte des Dolomites avec mon Minolta Riva Zoom et une seule pellicule (heureusement ma préférée, une Ultramax) pour 3 semaines dans un des plus beaux endroits au monde, selon moi.
Bien que j’utilise normalement plus cet appareil pour des photos davantage spontanées, je suis très contente du résultat!"

For the first time since we opened the lab we haven’t been able to deliver on our super fast dev & scan as promised. This is actually because we’ve hit our physical processor cap.

Our processor can develop around 150 rolls/day, however we're receiving more than that almost every day. This, coupled with the fact that we received 600 rolls within our two first days of reopening means that we’re battling a continuously growing queue.

This is obviously amazing as we had never dreamed of growing this quickly but it’s important for us to be able keep on honouring our mission of offering fast and high quality scans. Luckily we have the solution, we ordered a new film processor that is currently getting refurbished and that will make it possible for us to develop up to 300 rolls/day 😎

We’ve also invested in a new 120 scanner that will make it faster to get through our 120 queue. 💨

Goodbye film canisters!
For one and a half years we held on to every single film canister that came through the shop. As these can’t be recycle we just kept all 15 000+ rolls,  hoping that one day we’d find something to do with them.

And this day just came! We've sent them all to our friends at camera-rescue! They’ll use the roll to re-fill them with their new film, giving them a second life. ♻️

If you come to the store you might have noticed our super cool record player. We actually like other stuff besides photography and want to share some of it with you.
