France’s azure coastline stretches from the Spanish border to Italy. The Mediterranean shoreline, known as the littoral, offers stunning scenery and beaches. La Route des Crêtes between Cassis and La Ciotat skirts some of the highest cliffs in France, delivering endless views to anyone brave enough to drive the route. The Côte Bleue to the west of Marseille is a coast dotted with sheer cliffs, secluded coves and gentle sandy beaches.

Further to the west, where the RhĂ´ne River meets the Mediterranean, the brackish waters are a paradise for nature lovers. Here in the Camargue Regional Nature Park, the largest river delta on the continent, it is possible to see the white horses, black bulls and thousands of birds in an unspoiled habitat.
