Connecting People to Christ for Life

THE MAIN THING

And he said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written,”

“‘This people honors me with their lips,
               but their heart is far from me;
in vain do they worship me,

               teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’” – Mark 7:6-7

Thanks be to God that Jesus takes care of “Doing the Dishes” for us, washing us inside and out so that we might have life with him.  It’s pretty easy to get caught up in outward righteousness, giving the appearance of having it all together, but neglecting the right relationships we need with God and with other people.  This coming weekend will mark the conclusion of August’s “Dining In” preaching focus, so come and join with your family in faith at Immanuel as God feeds us for our future.

This past Monday saw the launch of our first Swinging for the Students golf outing.  It was a big success, especially for an inaugural event, with great turnout of players from the congregation, school, and community.  One of our golfers even hit a $10,000 hole-in-one!  The Lord blessed us with pretty favorable weather – including a brief afternoon downpour to cool things off.  Thanks to Frank Bisconti, our Director of Operations, for launching and coordinating this event.

Please be sure to join us for this coming Sunday’s congregational meeting at 10:15 a.m. hear about and vote on the possibility of purchasing a new home site for our North Boone Ministry.  This is an important milestone for Immanuel, and we’d like many of our congregational members to be present.

In Christ,
Pastor Campbell

Congregational Meeting August 29

We will hold a Congregational Meeting this Sunday, August 29, at the start of the 10:15 a.m. Education Hour.  As discussed at the Congregational Meeting this past May, the former Timberlane Village Hall is being sold by the North Boone Fire Protection District and would make an excellent home base for our North Boone mission work (i.e., “Immanuel North”).  We’re received word that the building and property will be sold by a “sealed envelope bid.” (This means that we will have one opportunity to submit a bid to the NBFPD without the opportunity to negotiate or match any competing bids, should there be any.)  Sunday’s meeting will present a recommendation from the Vestry on how to proceed with this opportunity.  Since it involved the potential for purchasing real property, this decision requires a congregational vote.

There will be no Worship Service at North that Sunday, August 29. We encourage you to come to the main campus for the voters meeting.
