The clocks have gone forward and thank goodness for the sunshine! At the time of writing, we are in the midst of the Suez crisis. On this occasion it’s not Nasser, but a stranded cargo ship lodged in the canal. What a reminder to the importance of the crossing?! The Microsoft Flight Simulator team had some fun! Gave me a good smile!
Other quirky news in March saw the art world's most expensive digital painting sold at Christie’s for $69.3m! The Beeple collage is a composite of digital images created each day for more than 13 years. It was sold as a non-fungible token (NFT) which I have learned are unique files encrypted on blockchain to ensure authenticity.
The Prism office has seen each week in March getting busier with more requirements from both old and new customers. There is evidently a skills/candidate shortage in the market at the moment. I was delighted to be invited to the Blueprint LDN virtual conference to discuss hiring trends and important tips for businesses/hiring managers who are looking to grow their teams as well as prospective candidates looking for work. Thanks to those who attended the session. If you didn't manage to catch it, I have uploaded the talk to our Prism Digital YouTube channel. Check it out immediately below. In true Prism style I have been very transparent in terms of advice and the best approach!
I hope you've had a good March. As always, if you want to talk to me about the market, DevOps trends etc. do not hesitate to get in touch, it would be great to hear from you. Look forward to hearing from you! Book a call with me here
Welcome to the April meetup, coming up to the Easter break! Join us on Rambly to hear the usual three fantastic speakers and network with your fellow techies.

Discover how to automate your CI/CD process for cloud-native applications. Deploying your application on your K8s clusters after each commit has never been easier!
Performance and Benchmarking Cloud Native Storage (Alex Chircop, StorageOS)
Benchmarking storage is hard. We discuss tools and methods for measuring performance and benchmarking cloud native storage, and identify some of the issues and many common pitfalls for benchmarking storage in general.
The meetup this month is themed around DevSecOps. We will have a talk from Glenn, followed by a panel session exploring the themes in Glenn's talk.
In this talk, Glenn argues that we need to go back to basics to understand security’s role in DevOps. Rather than thinking of DevOps as a continuous loop of abstract functions, we need to think of DevOps in its simplest form in terms of its ideals to understand what this means for security.
Glenn is an experienced DevSecOps and Agile security consultant who has a background in software engineering, Agile frameworks, DevOps and cybersecurity. He is author of DevSecOps: A leader’s guide to producing secure software without compromising flow, feedback and continuous improvement.
Data modernisation and moving your SQL workloads to Azure
Moving SQL workloads can be a daunting task. However there are proven methodologies to move them in a prompt, secure and efficient manner.
In this talk Carl Manning, Devi Mohan and Kris Araujo will discuss how they have moved large SQL and windows workloads to Azure. They'll cover a variety of migration tools and techniques to simplify the headache of SQL and windows migration and describe how they've just achieved a successful SQL migration of over 100 databases in less than 8 weeks.
