Natural Bridges Book Club and Personal Updates
Chris has been hanging out with his grandkids a lot recently. In one of their explorations of Natural Bridges, he and his grandson found a private beach that had a rope swing. Chris said that his grandson was nervous about it at first, but within a few minutes he was swinging away and Chris was yelling "Dude, mellow out a bit!" By the time they left, they were both covered with mud, and Chris dropped him off at home for his daughter to clean up. Ah, to be a grandparent...
Meanwhile, Moana is also covered in mud, having just started digging up the backyard and planting her indoor seedlings (first time ever growing things inside from seed!). Her little cherry tomato seedlings have already emerged strong, and the sunflowers were right behind them. Outside, she's been thinning out her canna lilies, society garlic, and borage. She's also started growing houseplants and so far has not killed a single one.
Anabel just moved to Santa Cruz! Her favorite thing about her new place? "My commute used to be an hour. Now it's six minutes."
In NBFA book club news, Chris is "not reading anything entertaining at all," being submerged in financial planning literature and tax returns. This is typical for this time of year, he says, although he has been plodding along with learning Spanish.
