Re-emerging from confinement, we've spent the past months incubating and embracing new ideas in the disruptive comfort of our homes, envisioning, reshaping what the future of museums will look like after deep introspection and thoughtful reflection. Getting together has never been more exhilarating.
At the PHI Foundation for Contemporary Art
Engaging with the formal and conceptual properties of charcoal, the Korean artist Lee Bae creates drawings, paintings, sculptures, and installations. This major solo exhibition, his first in Canada, features more than 40 recent works that employ a range of approaches across figuration and abstraction.
At the PHI Centre
Produced jointly by the PHI Centre and the PHI Foundation in support of artists during the first confinement, the virtual artist residency Parallel Lines is taking place this winter and takes refuge in the spaces of the PHI Centre. You are invited to explore the works created by the 10 artists from Montreal who participated in the sixty-day residency in a fun and interactive journey.
Through Three Movements, we are called to marvel, reflect and movement. The exhibition invites us to rediscover the tangible, the spontaneity of movement and human curiosity. This will be an opportunity to discover, among others, the work Composition by Vincent Morisset, Breathe by Brazilian artist Diego Galafassi presented in its world premiere at the Sundance Festival in 2020 (two residences supported by PHI), and Asteria with the participation of Alexandra Stréliski, Dominique Fils-Aimé, Vincent Vallières, Daniel Bélanger and Fouki.
Extra-muros
Presented at Arsenal Contemporary Art, Alejandro G. Iñárritu's conceptual virtual reality installation explores the human condition of immigrants and refugees. A large-scale, powerful, and eye-opening Oscar® award-winning virtual reality experience.
