Wildscreen launches international storytelling scheme

Bristol-based conservation charity, Wildscreen, has launched its latest flagship initiative, the inaugural Wildscreen Storytelling Internship Scheme.

The scheme, which has the backing of WWF-UK, will provide paid internship opportunities for six UK-based and six internationally-based 18-25 year olds, wanting to pursue careers in natural world storytelling and content creation within the TV and Conservation sectors.

From Autumn 2022, 12 internationally renowned wildlife TV production companies and Conservation NGOs will open their doors to aspiring conservationists, providing paid, practical experience across a variety of roles spanning camera operating to editing, from story development to scriptwriting. As well as being provided with the opportunity to gain valuable ‘hands-on’ professional skills and experience, the cohort will also benefit from one-to-one mentoring within the host organisations and one-year's membership to the Wildscreen Network, the world’s biggest professional community for the wildlife film and TV genre, to help launch their careers in the natural world storytelling industries. 

The scheme aims to tackle systemic barriers to entry into the wildlife TV and Conservation sectors, which disproportionately impact groups which are already underrepresented.

As we all know, the global Covid pandemic forced a lot of us to set up office at home. Useful Photography specialises in ‘found’ or unusual photographic images and for its latest issue the publishers researched real estate websites across Europe to collect images of that 'corner of the room' reserved for remote working (and it seems to be any room, be it the spare bedroom, kitchen, living room or whatever, they’re all here). It’s a project that reveals the future workplace to be quite different to what we imagined it to be | £26

Naomi Munuo, 'Changing Faces', That Art Gallery, 15 September – 8 October

Naomi Munuo’s work is representational – still life, interiors and figure.

Within her works on paper, she draws on elements of the unexpected and accidental to give her work, life and freedom, using a range of media. In her current work she is focussing on acrylic painting on canvas.

Bristol Beacon announce line-up of bank holiday concerts

Tonight (Friday 26 August) art-punk trio Cola will perform at Rough Trade, Bristol, where Tim Darcy, Ben Stidworthy and Evan Cartwright of US Girls and The Weather Station will team up with their wry vocals and resonant guitar grooves.

Cola will be followed by a series of other acts, including Tank and the Bangas and Taraka.
