March was a month full of travel for all three of our spring programs. HULA explored the diverse regions of Peru, HUG ventured from Greece to new corners of the Mediterranean, and HUF students embarked on independent travel that took them to a dozen different countries. HULA

Harding University in Latin America

March kicked off with the HULA group in the middle of a tour that took them to the Nazca Lines, the Paracas Sand Dunes, and Lima – the capital of Peru. Back in Arequipa, students enjoyed activities like hiking a nearby volcano, attending a soccer game, taking part in a cooking class and so much more. Later in the month, HULA took a trip to Lake Titicaca and the Colca Canyon. The lake sits at over 12,000 ft in the Andes mountains and is South America's largest lake. HULA students spent a night on Amantani island with host families to learn about Quechua culture. Later, they visited the Colca Canyon and saw the famous condors that inhabit the area.

HUG

Harding University in Greece

The HUG group spent most of March traveling around the Mediterranean Sea, including stops in Egypt, Türkiye, and the Greek island of Crete. During their visit to Egypt, the students explored pyramids, temples, ancient tombs, and enjoyed a cruise down the scenic Nile River. In Türkiye, they toured Istanbul, the ancient ruins of Troy, and several churches mentioned in the Book of Revelation, such as Ephesus, Pergamum, and Sardis. On Crete, the HUG group learned about the Minoan civilization and visited several sites, including the Knossos Palace.

As the spring HUG semester comes to an end, the students will either return home after final exams or embark on a week or two of independent travel in Europe before heading home.
HUF

Harding University in Florence

HUF students spent March traveling all over Europe...and even Africa! Within Italy, the group toured the massive ruins of Pompeii, admired the beautiful Amalfi Coast, and visited the magnificent temples of Paestum. Back home at the villa, the students participated in a storytelling workshop hosted by 1504, a narrative studio established by HUF alumni. 

Perhaps one of the most exciting things HUF students did this month was plan their own adventures during two weeks of independent travel. During these times, students split into groups and visited various countries, including England, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Greece, Switzerland (as seen in the skydiving picture below), Hungary, Slovenia, Monaco, Norway (as seen in the Northern Lights picture below), and Morocco.

HUF & HUA Sponsor Activities For Students During Trip Around the World

During spring break, The 1924 Experience’s “Trip Around the World” contest winners, Lily Burrows and Kiera Blankinship, along with Kristina Chance, visited two of our favorite countries: Italy & Australia!

While in Venice, the HUF program sponsored the group’s gondola ride through the iconic canals. In Australia, the HUA program sponsored their Sydney Harbour Cruise!
HUG Employee Receives 10-Year Pin

Earlier this month, HUG chef Natasa Tsirmpa received her 10-year service pin. Please join us in thanking Natasa for her years of outstanding service to Harding!
