I'm quite proud of The Artemis Project: Satellites & Commanders. I think we have created a gorgeous product that expands the base game in exactly the way that fans want, but that also remains accessible to new players.
And it was on this premise that I launched my current Kickstarter for the expansion. However, I think I made a mistake.
In some other universe - perhaps far, far away - there is a version of me and Grand Gamers Guild that launched a similar, yet different campaign for The Artemis Project SECOND EDITION. And while I can't peer through the fabric that separates our universes, I suspect that his campaign is doing much better.
I think that for a company my size, leading with the expansion was a significant misstep. (Not tragic, mind you, as we are fully funded and heading towards our 4th stretch goal.)
But I think that in that other universe, leading with the core product and offering the opportunity to add the expansion had a lot more impact, a lot more resonance, and resulted in a campaign with more rapid funding.
I think this is so because I am still a very small company. And a blockbuster for me is very different from a blockbuster for many other companies. Some days I'm okay with that, some days I'm not, but it is what it is. Anyway, all this is to say that even if your interest in an expansion to a game you've never played is minimal, perhaps I can withdraw my misstep and ask you to take a look at the campaign in consideration of The Artemis Project SECOND EDITION.
While there is no pledge level for just that product, it will be available for singular purchase in PledgeManager. And if you want to know what we've changed for the second edtion, check out this update.
I'm also curious what else you find not right about this campaign. What has kept you from backing? I'm always seeking to be better and always grateful for your feedback. If you have a few minutes, hit reply and let me know what you think. Have a spectacular Memorial Day weekend!
Playfully,
Marc
