On my way today morning to get some sun and walk my dog Oreo. I was listening to Robert Greene's 'The Laws of Human Nature.'
This is the book I chose for PowerUp60 for those of you who recall.
"But audiobooks don't count for the challenge!".
I am still reading the book. But what I have started recently is listening to the audiobook version of the book I am already reading. While out for my morning stroll.
I feel it helps refresh earlier parts and makes it more likely that I will remember key pointers.
Anyway. The chapter I was listening to today was on attitude.
Doctors in earlier days used to segregate ailments and bodily diseases. They didn't see the body as one interconnected unit.
This later changed with progress in medical science.
Doctors realised that changing fundamental aspects like diet and exercise. Has a carry-over effect to all physical systems of the body.
So nutrition and physical training are two things at the core of good health.
Similarly the author suggests that the many mental ailments of modern times arise from the core of attitude. Our general outlook towards things in life.
When subjected to the same life circumstances, 2 people may create very different life outcomes.
If you compare attitude to the aperture of a lens. A positive one opens it up to its widest. While a negative attitude constricts.
Every single one of us has a unique worldview. So there is not one reality. But there are 7.9 billion realities.
And you have the power to choose the kind of reality you live in.
Because it all stems from your attitude towards your circumstances.
Do you tend to blame others for not being able to exercise regularly? For not being able to eat right? For being out of shape?
Or do you take responsibility for the situation and take up control?
Because both of these polar opposite realities are true. It depends on which one you choose.
And the outcome you finally achieve would be defined by it.
Wishing you great start to this upcoming work-week.
