Welcome to our seventh edition of the short'ncrisp newsletter. We hope you are able to read these occasionally and are able to get a "feel" of the slow but definite changes that YOU are helping us bring about in the lives of many.
In this edition, we want to remind and refresh you about our three core programs - Astivaaram (Foundation), Sethu (Bridge) and Sthamba(Pillar) and how they play out in our shared journey with the families we support.
With the world returning to normalcy, our students have started going back to their physical schools and colleges after a gap of 18+ months. Though we did our best to "hold the fort" for all this while, there is a huge learning loss still to cover. We at SOF are working with our students to just do that. Irrefutable evidence of our student's determination is in the fact that without the slightest of a flinch, our Grade 10ers start their day at 5:30 AM for our special classes before heading to their school! What more can we want?
Meanwhile we hope you and your loved ones are safe and comfortable. We are sure you all have the well wishes of our 250+ families that you have been supporting.
Here is a glimpse into other developments that's happening at our end. We have broken updates into 4 quadrants - Operations, Partnerships, People and Enablers i.e. You - Our well-wishers
Operations - A view from ground-zero
We now cover 250 students (and their families) across 5 locations in Bangalore and Rural Kerala with the help of 15 staff and 62 donors (Individuals and Corporates).
We are soon going to possibly include another rural center near Bangalore with around 200+ students for our Sethu and Stambha Programs.
Having said that the original plan of starting our first centers in Pune and Chennai is still on cards, but perhaps likely in the last quarter of 2021-22.
Partnership - ClayLab Foundation
ClayLab Education Foundation is an organization that attempts to provide after-school tuitions and career assistance support through virtual channels for Grade 11 and 12 students. So far operational in Mumbai and Delhi, we met with their founders Vivek and Purva to explore what it could mean to extend it to our students from Bangalore. A short pilot was run with few students and results are exciting! Stay tuned as we explore this potentially powerful partnership.
People - Meet our Staff
Meet Sowbhagya who takes care of our KR Puram unit. A student of MA herself she is our second-youngest member of our staff family. Lives with her brother and mother in KR puram, she loves acting and cooking. Ever smiling she is also ever ready to help our students at anytime they seek any help!
Enablers - Samaritans joining our journey
We would like to welcome Rajkumar Hirlakond, Balaji Aruru, Akhilesh Bellad, Rita Biswal, Sudharani and Dr. Sushma (SS Tuition Center) into our family of Donors, Partners, Staff, and Well-wishers. We can't achieve anything without your kind wishes, support and prayers!
