A Robbery occurred aboard an Offshore Supply Vessel while it was anchored at Abidjan Inner Anchorage, Ivory Coast.
Two robbers were reportedly spotted by the duty crew on the Starboard side of the main deck. The alarm was raised, prompting the perpetrators to flee. A subsequent search of the vessel revealed that the padlock on the paint store had been broken, and a quantity of paint was stolen.
The incident was reported to local authorities. This is the first incident of this type to be reported this year in the vicinity of Abidjan Anchorage. However, incidents such as this have been reported in the anchorage before, as well as multiple boardings up to 300NM from Abidjan.
All vessels transiting within the area are advised to exercise extreme caution, remain vigilant, retain an enhanced local surveillance, maintain strict Anti-Piracy Watch, and apply BMP WA procedures. Report any suspicious activity to authorities.
