Dear Friendly Readers,

We’ve had the most beautiful late spring in Connecticut—I’m focusing on that when the news of the world gets overwhelming. I figure the best I can do is to be kind to those around me, be grateful for what I have, and keep writing! One of the things I’m most grateful for is John. We made a quick dash into New York City for a pre-anniversary splurge, to take our usual rounds and also try some new things. It was a great mini getaway!

While I’ve been writing like mad to get the draft of Key West food critic #15 completed, John’s been battling critters in the garden. He talked so much about his efforts that I asked him to tell you the story too...

This was one of my most popular culinary creations this month, rhubarb cinnamon loaf cake. Hopefully you can snag a bunch of rhubarb before it’s out of season, or else substitute strawberries!
