Dear ,
By now you may have heard some media buzz about AI-generated art. I’ve been using it as a tool to help me with my cover art, particularly in the last three Spellcraft novellas, where it’s responsible for things like the basement “stash” and the logo of the pizza joint next door to Practical Penn.
It’s an exciting time to be a designer, and the programs are constantly evolving and changing. It’s not 100% accurate yet, but the app Midjourney will allow you to upload photos of people and generate new art from those photos.
Of course I uploaded a shot of Vic. (I’m often asked who he is; he’s a stock photography model I’ve licensed images of and not anyone I personally know.)
I re-imagined him as a supermodel to mixed reactions in my Facebook group.
Then I thought I’d try generating a scene from one of the books…like the infamous phone-in-the-crisper situation.
The first block of photos is what the prompt “man looking in a fridge” will generate on its own.
