On November 25, 2024, the Panama-flagged Bulk Carrier EXPRESS (IMO: 9461350 ) was reportedly targeted by armed robbers while transiting the Singapore Strait. The perpetrators boarded the vessel and stole ship's property before escaping. No crew members were reported injured during the incident.

This incident brings the total number of reported incidents in the region to at least 40 this year, with 27 of those exhibiting similar characteristics and occurring within the Singapore Strait area.

Local authorities have been notified, and an investigation is underway to apprehend the suspects. Mariners are advised to remain vigilant when navigating through this area
