New film

This films shows how our project has supported the staff of a juvenile prison in Ukraine to set-up 'family conferences' to ensure the rehabilitation of young offenders.

It follows the story of Artem and his conference with his family. This is part of our project to strengthen human rights and rule of law in the treatment of prisoners in Ukraine - improving the rehabilitation of prisoners in line with European standards and best practices.

Protection and promotion of human rights

Numerous activities have taken place under this theme, particularly under promoting equality and human dignity, promoting human rights education and democratic citizenship, protecting minorities' rights and strengthening the implementation of European human rights standards.

Ensuring Justice

Conclusions are being drawn on the positive impact of some of the projects to improve the efficiency and quality of justice and there have been many additionalactivities to promote penitentiary reforms

Combating threats to the rule of law

Training programmes have been launched and expert dialogue continues under the criminal justice action on cyber crime project. Training and other actions also took place under the fight against corruption and money-laundering projects.

Promoting democratic governance

The Venice Commission continued its work on reforming electoral legislation and practice. Training sessions were held on Enhancing Public (Financial) Governance and Management in European Cities attended by participants from Moldova and Armenia.
