In Hezekiah Walker’s gospel song “Grateful”, he sings, “I could go on and on and on about your works. Because I’m grateful, grateful, so grateful just to praise you Lord.” This morning as we countdown to Thanksgiving Day, we look at some reasons to be thankful and grateful to God.Hide original message
Because God gave us His greatest gift, salvation through relationship with His son. John 3:16 says, For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Because He hears and answers our prayers. John 11:41 reads, “Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.”
Because He provides for our every need. Philippians 4:19 promises…”But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
Because He showers us with blessings. 2 Corinthians 9:8 assures us…”And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
And because He protects and keeps us. Psalm 121:7-8 reminds us, “The Lord will keep you from all harm - he will watch over your life; The Lord will watch over your coming and going, both now and forevermore.”
To God Be The Glory, No matter what we’re facing, we can express gratitude to God. Amid our praises and thanksgiving, His joy becomes contagious, and He lifts us above our problems so that our focus is on Him!

Every holiday season brings an opportunity to spend quality time at home with loved ones. While some parents worry that time away from school might hinder their child's learning progress, most teachers emphasize the importance of rest and relaxation during breaks. Children need time to recharge and reset before diving back into their studies.
However, this doesn't mean you can't incorporate fun and engaging activities that stimulate their minds and keep them learning throughout the holidays. Here are 10 simple yet effective ways to foster learning and growth during the festive season:
1. Menu Math: Turning the Kitchen into a Hands-on Math Classroom
Your kitchen can transform into a dynamic learning space where math comes alive. From adding and subtracting ingredients to measuring, converting units, and exploring fractions, the possibilities are endless.
- Menu planning and cost estimating: Involve your child in planning meals and estimating grocery costs. This teaches them budgeting and financial literacy skills.
- Grocery store comparisons: Compare prices of different items at various grocery stores to practice arithmetic and critical thinking.
- Reading and writing fractions: Baking and cooking often require precise measurements, providing opportunities to practice fractions and decimals.
- Measuring and weighing ingredients: Encourage your child to use measuring cups, spoons, and scales to develop an understanding of measurements and proportions.
- Converting units: Teach your child how to convert between different units, such as ounces to grams or cups to liters.

BED BUGS
Here are some tips for dealing with bed bugs:
Prevention
Keep your home clean and free of clutter, especially in your bedroom. Vacuum regularly, including mattresses, box springs, furniture, and carpets. You can also use a mattress and box spring cover, and seal cracks and crevices in your home.
Inspection
Check for bed bugs and bites regularly. You can use a flashlight to look in dark areas like behind the headboard and under the bed. Look for dark rust-colored spots on mattresses and sheets.
Treatment
If you have an infestation, you can try these methods:
Wash bedding: Wash bedding and clothing in hot water and dry on high heat.
Vacuum mattresses: Vacuum mattresses, seal them in plastic, and leave them outside in the sun.
Use a pesticide: Spray common hiding spots with a surface pesticide that's registered to control bed bugs. Follow the label directions carefully.
Use a home remedy: Sprinkle baking soda on areas where you think bed bugs are, let it sit for a week, and then vacuum. Repeat until there are no more bugs or eggs.
Call a professional
If you can't get rid of the bed bugs on your own, you can call a professional exterminator.

FLU
Flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and sometimes the lungs. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death.
Flu shots are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding a flu vaccination.
RSV
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common, contagious virus that usually causes mild symptoms. In older adults and adults with certain underlying conditions, RSV can cause severe infections.
RSV shots are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding a RSV vaccination.
COVID-19
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Most people infected with the virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. However, some will become seriously ill and require medical attention. Older people and those with underlying medical conditions like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, or cancer are more likely to develop serious illness. Anyone can get sick with COVID-19 and become seriously ill or die at any age.
The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to be well informed about the disease and how the virus spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by staying at least 1 metre apart from others, wearing a properly fitted mask, and washing your hands or using an alcohol-based rub frequently. Get vaccinated when it’s your turn and follow local guidance.
The virus can spread from an infected person’s mouth or nose in small liquid particles when they cough, sneeze, speak, sing or breathe. These particles range from larger respiratory droplets to smaller aerosols. It is important to practice respiratory etiquette, for example by coughing into a flexed elbow, and to stay home and self-isolate until you recover if you feel unwell.
Both COVID vaccines and Booster COVID vaccines are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding COVID vaccinations.
