Thanks for taking the time to read through the October Newsletter. I have just returned back from attending a once in a lifetime retreat in Rhinebeck New York with Jon Kabat Zinn and his son Will Kabat Zinn. If you are not familiar with Jon Kabat Zinn, in 1979 he developed an eight-week program to help terminally ill people reduce their stress and anxiety. This program is now widely known as MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) and is available around the world. His research and work that followed brought mindfulness to the west.
I travelled with Karen Hall, who is my wonderful Peaceful Kids co-facilitator, and we both found the experience enriching from both a personal and professional perspective. The week long retreat was held in a beautiful environment at the Omega Institute a couple of hours north of New York City in the countryside. We were lucky enough to also have a few conversations and lunch with Jon Kabat Zinn and the 'must have' photo to remember the experience (see below).
