![]() Aware Senior Care Wins Triangle Business Journal’s Family-Owned Business Award On December 9th, 2019 the Triangle Business Journal announced that Aware Senior Care won its 2019 Family Business Award. They are one of fourteen Triangle-area businesses to receive this honor.
This is the first time the company has received this honor, and it is the eighth major award the agency has won in 2019 for its highly skilled and compassionate in-home care services.
“When you own a family business, your employees are your family,” said Tim Murray, Aware Senior Care’s CEO and Co-Founder. “As our company grew over the past five years, our son joined the team, working alongside me and my wife, Gina. We’ve also come to think of our other 133 employees as our family. Treating our employees like our family is really at the heart of our work here, and that’s what makes this place so special.”
According to the Triangle Business Journal, the annual Family-Owned Business Awards recognize “multi-generational, family-owned as well as closely held businesses in the Triangle for overall excellence, innovation, ethics, philanthropy and contribution to the strength of the region.”
This is the event’s fourth year.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE
![]() The Aware Senior Care Circle of Support is a village of skilled individuals and organizations that share the common bond of helping people live well in their homes.
This month’s featured partner is Brad Roland, Certified Senior Advisor and local owner of CarePatrol, which is the largest personal care placement service in the nation.
Brad and his team help families find Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care options throughout Wake County.
They review the care and violation history of each community and personally accompany their clients to each option much like a realtor would show a new home. They provide their services at no cost as they are compensated by the community of choice.
What impressed me most about Brad when we first met for lunch to get to know each other was his passion and dedication to “doing the right thing." I mentioned my concern about placement services only placing people in properties that they have a relationship.
Brad looked me sternly in the eye and in a heartfelt way said “Tim, if it comes down to a place that is right and we have no contract, we’re going to do the right thing and help them get there.” That’s all I needed to here.
Brad can be reached directly at 919-302-4429 or broland@carepatrol.com. Their website is www.WakeCounty.CarePatrol.com.

As we start the new year we know that many people are making resolutions for themselves. Your friends at Aware Senior Care would like to recommend something to add to that list, and it is one of the greatest things that you can do for yourself, Self-Care!
With everything that we have going on in our lives, we are busier than ever! Which inevitably leads to less time for ourselves. You may ask, “How, then, do you propose we take care of ourselves?” The key to good self-care it to use the time that we do have wisely. It is up to each one of us to figure out how best to do that, and we would like to share two informational “tips” to help you out.
The first is from our video series “Tuesday Tips.” This speaks directly to how you can achieve balance in your life. One of those tips leads directly to the next tip: Improve your sleep!
We think of how much better we feel after a good night’s rest, but why is that? What happens if we consistently suffer from poor sleep? What are some easy things that you can do to help you get better rest?
