I dont know when I came up with the phrase 'the lie we wear' but every time I explain it, it really resonates with those living altered lives.
It's the smile that says...
"I'm fine"
"I've got this"
"I'm coping and taking it all in my stride"
"You can rely on me to support you"
"Life is good"
It's the smile that hides...
"I've forgotten what fine feels like"
"I doubt myself every moment of every day"
"I am taking one hour at a time and sometimes even that is a struggle"
"I cant let anyone else down, I already feel like Im failing at life"
"Life is hard and NOT what I had dreamed of"
I want you to know that I see your smile and I see the truth behind it.
In fact, I wrote a letter to you a while ago now that I would love you to read by clicking this link . Its important that you know that the lie you wear will be a staple part of your wardrobe for the years ahead. Its also important that you know there will be friends and a community (watch this space) where you can take it off and just put your PJs on to chill.
The lie we wear doesn't have to be the exhausting mask it is now. It serves a purpose but thats for another newsletter. Same time next week? See you then.
With love from Our Altered Life to yours, Charlie xx
