Dear ,
Good grief: how did we get to September already?? (Of course, I probably ask myself that question every month.....) September 23 is the autumnal equinox in the northern hemisphere, even though up here in the California mountains, we've yet to see much evidence of autumn, as vestiges of August's seemingly-endless heat wave linger.
I can only be grateful we're not in some European countries where temperatures this summer have been nearing 100 degrees, with thousands of people dying as a result of the unprecedented heat waves and massive wildfires.
But don't worry: there's no such thing as climate change.
Meanwhile, in Ukraine, the Russian invasion drags on. Since the war began in February, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights says there have been 5,587 Ukrainian civilians killed and almost 8,000 injured. Over 13 million Ukrainians have been displaced, while the International Committee of the Red Cross says that the war has caused destruction and human misery that “defies comprehension.” And the world waits as the question lingers in the air, When will it end?
