My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in February and unfortunately it's been a downward road since then. She was admitted to the hospice 2 weeks ago for pain treatment and was put on morphine and cortisone. Unfortunately, she still has extreme back and abdomen pain because the cancer spread all around her body including her diaphragm and kidneys.
The hospice doesn't keep in-unit patients for longer than 2 weeks, so she came home 3 days ago. It's really rough being a fulltime caregiver, having to dress and wash her, feed her, give her her medication at specific times, and help her stand up and walk. She had a terrible fall the other day when she lost her balance and is full of bruises now. My heart aches so much to see her in this much pain.
We really are experiencing her last days and a long goodbye as she is no longer on any treatment, just pain management. Please pray that her last days are full of love and joy with our family (my brother who I last saw 7 years ago came to visit from the USA!) and that she will stay sober in her thoughts. She tends to be in and out of consciousness and finds it difficult to talk.
Thank you that I can be honest and vulnerable with you, my subscribers. It means a lot that I have a safe space to share about my personal life.
