“THAT ALL MEN ARE CREATED
EQUAL…”
The
two major authors of the Declaration of Independence can be called
the “Odd Couple” of 1776, Jefferson a huge slave owner and
Franklin an Abolitionist, he was opposed to the Peculiar Institution
of Slavery. “Odd Couple”,in that, Jefferson believed that blacks
were inferior to whites and Franklin believed they were fully human
and equal to whites. Many historians believe that Franklin was
instrumental in adding the phrase "all men are created equal”
to the Declaration of Independence.
The
Pennsylvania Abolition Society was Founded
by Quakers in 1774-1775, the society was the first in the U.S.
dedicated to abolition and helping free Black people. Initially it
was called
the Society
for the Relief of Free Negroes Unlawfully Held in Bondage).
Benjamin
Franklin, a Quaker, was the President of the Society in 1787, at
age 81. Perhaps Franklin and the Quakers were driven to oppose
slavery by following God’s Word that first stated in Acts 17:26:
“And
hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the
face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed,
and the bounds of their habitation;” COMMON SENSE AT IT’S ZENITH
(the point directly above the observer)!
God
made all nations of humanity from one origin, establishing a common
humanity.
This
phrase is often used to emphasize unity, racial equality, and
brotherhood in every generation.
I
remind you again that statisticians have recorded that:
“In
colonial American culture, the vast majority of the
population identified as Christian, with Protestants making up an
estimated 98 percent of the colonial population on the eve
of the American Revolution.
While
formal church membership was sometimes low due to strict
requirements, church adherence and attendance were high, especially
following the Great Awakening.” This data leads to the possibility
that COMMON SENSE would dictate a vast number of true believers would
not only be readers of God’s word but doers as well.
COMMON
SENSE dictates, by way of the Holy Bible in Hebrews 12:1:
“Therefore
then, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who
have borne testimony to the Truth], let us strip off and throw
aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so
readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles
us, and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active
persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before
us,AMP Version.”
How
then could the so-called religious folks of that day of enlightenment
period read and understand God’s Holy writ and then not adhere to
what God dictated to His believers in Acts
17:26? (Hold up before you run and pick up that favorite verse that
many Christians use as an excuse for their actions found in Romans
3:23: “For
all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
Truth dictates that there is no excuse for a true Christian, it is
sin!)
Yes,
those brave, erudite, freedom loving, Patriots (yes, those cloud of
witnesses) sinned at the beginning of their heroic stance to declare
their independence from Great Britain sinned. Many misinformed
citizens no doubt will take exception of this truth. They will
bristle up (meaning “to react with sudden anger, indignation, or
defensive hostility, often appearing tense or rigid. It also
describes an instinctive, proud, or sharp reaction to a perceived
insult, threat, or challenge, like how an animal’s fur stands on
end.” Many of them holler out, “Where do you get off making this
statement? That is not true when did they sin in seeking their
freedom as a nation?
For
an answer I will use the title of writer Josh McDowell’s book,
Evidence that Demands a Verdict, to
answer the woefully misguided citizens zeal to defend America First
ideology. It is past time (2026) for our nation refusing to
acknowledge that there is “Evidence
That Demands A Verdict.”
The
first evidence of the Patriots sins is in Acts 17:26. God inspired
Luke to record His intentions toward His creation, mankind,
unequivocally. (Meaning there is no doubt, no misunderstanding, in
short, God is crystal clear! God's
self-disclosure is the
divine, gracious act of revealing His nature, will, and person to
humanity,
which is essential to knowing Him. Thereby, God has
explicated/developed, and explained His complex creative process by
His Holy meticulous detail in Acts 17:26 that stands solid in
pleading the
case for all people, including black hostages forcefully taken from
their native lands where they lived as free people.
Acts
17:26 is Exculpatory Evidence (Derived
from Latin, the term means "freed from blame,") directly
supports the innocence of an accused person/persons and helps prove
that they did not commit any crime.
What
crime, pray tell, did black Africans that were taken hostage into
slavery commit? What did our ancestors do, other than being black, to
have such harsh mistreatment cast on them at the hands of their
enslavers? The only crimes that were committed were those perpetrated
by the enslavers.
The
first sin was committed by the Patriots failing to adhere to the
COMMON SENSE admonishment issued by the Lord in Micah 6:8: “He
hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require
of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with
thy God?” Clearly given directions from God to His creation as to
“The Way” God chose for mankind to go. Read this over and over
until the simplicity of God’s directions for mankind to follow.
The
Patriots failed to treat the black Americans as human beings. They
physically and psychologically forced the black African slaves into
involuntary servitude. The enslavers inhumane treatment forced black
African slaves to experience and endure hardships at the hands of
cruel insensitive people keeping them against their will. Where was
the ‘good that God “requires” all His true believers to live by
in Micah 6:8. Where was the “justice, love, mercy, and walking
humbly with God? COMMON SENSE DEMANDS an answer to this question.
The
first egregious sin committed by the Patriots was in promoting the
concept that black tribal traditional people were not human beings,
therefore they were classified as being inferior to whites, and not
worthy of being classified as human beings nor equal with all other
people(what a horrible sin).
According
to Acts 17:26 all the above is not true and the Patriots knew it was
not true, but for the sake of reaching their desired ends they
calloused over the truth of God. (Calloused
over" refers to the
process of becoming hardened, thickened, or insensitive, either
physically (like skin) or figuratively (like emotions).
It means developing a tough, protective layer—often a callus—over
a wound or exposed area, preventing further damage or sensitivity.)
Perhaps
the Patriots took a chance in failing in large numbers in following
God’s word closely. The (A.) section of Numbers 14:18: reminds us
as it did the Patriots that: “(A.)The LORD is slow to anger and
abounding in loving devotion, forgiving iniquity and transgression.
(B.)warns by saying “Yet
He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished; He
will visit the iniquity of the fathers upon their children to the
third and fourth generation.’
The
(B.) section of Numbers 14:18 warns all believers of the ripple
effect of sin across family lines due to disobedience.
