My Race is in Full Swing
I am already rolling and letting the voters of SD 18 understand my background and what I stand for. We share the values that are so desperately needed in our elected representatives - a strong faith in God, a belief in the exceptionalism of America, a commitment to conservative principles, a limited and responsible government, and a dedication to preserving the rights given to us by God and captured by our founding fathers in the Constitution.
Where We've Been
Over the past few weeks I've traveled from the district to Pinehurst, Beaufort and back, this is only the beginning of my campaign journey. Precinct meetings to locally hosted events with farmers and business leaders. I am there.
We Need to Stop Cooper's Veto Power
We have a strong group of conservatives in the NC Senate now – a supermajority is necessary so we can get common sense legislation passed and take away Roy Cooper’s veto powers – the path to the supermajority runs through this district
I was not looking to run for the General Assembly; it was just not on my radar. But when asked and heard the argument that overriding Cooper was the most important thing we could do for the future of North Carolina, I knew this was a rare opportunity. With the supermajority, we can we can ensure parents and not the state determine what their children are taught, improve the integrity of our elections with voter ID and protect the lives of the unborn when the Supreme Court pushes that decision to the states.
Why This Campaign Is So Important
To get a supermajority, we need 30 Republican Senators, 2 more than we have now. When all the races are ranked, including the ones without a competitor or in a safe district, the ones needed for a supermajority are more competitive and critical. My race is #30- the one that puts us over the top. As a result, there is a lot of focus by both parties on this seat. That makes my race critical to the state in addition to the district.
Here are some take-aways. District 18 is
- Winnable district that looks even better with the red wave
- An open seat in a new district
- The race that determines if there is a senate supermajority
