1. Boots World of Hearing

Boots Hearingcare has opened its new flagship World of Hearing store in Welwyn Garden City.

A UK first, the clinic has been built to change the way people think about hearing care and to help break down customer barriers within the sector.

State-of-the-art equipment includes a new immersion and experience room and self-screening suites, which enable the customer to experience the benefit of wearing hearing aids in many different, and typically challenging, environments.

2. Admin matters!

Admin, paperwork, back office procedures - whatever you call it, it sounds rather dull, and is little studied. But as research from National Voices, King’s Fund and Healthwatch England shows, NHS admin plays a central role in determining the quality of any individual's encounter with health and care services.

If we really are to "build back better", recognising the importance of admin and improving the way that internal systems support both patients and frontline staff is going to be key.

3. Annual Baywatch survey

A record number of people took part in the DMUK Baywatch survey last year, which included feedback on various aspects of disabled parking, not just supermarkets.

The 2021 survey is taking place next month, and contributing your experience of parking is an effective way to maintain pressure on the industry to improve provision and policing of blue badge parking bays.

4. Post stroke adaptations

With almost one million people in the UK currently living with the effects of stroke, it’s likely that an OT’s case load will feature someone who needs specialist help.

Closomat and The OT Service are providing CPD learning for healthcare workers via Zoom, focusing on ‘post-stroke adaptations’, on Thursday 15^th July at 11am (and repeated at 6pm).

5. Changing Places at Euston

It seems a while since I've brought you news of a Changing Places installation. But they are still happening! Gradually spreading around the country to meet the needs of more than 250,000 seriously disabled individuals and their families and friends.

The new facility shown here - one of over 1600 registered - is making London's Euston station more accessible for travellers.

6. Latest - Abacus baths for Dutch apartments

COVID and Brexit couldn't hinder the successful installation of two Gemini 2000 specialist care baths at new, fully wheelchair accessible holiday apartments in The Netherlands.

Abacus Specialist Bathroom Solutions worked with Dutch partner, Homecare Innovation B.V. on the project at the state-of-the-art, energy neutral De Egmonden complex in Egmond aan Zee.
