The 75th Anniversary Celebration for the Purdue Crew is almost here, and the Crew and the PRA have been working hard to make it a special weekend for all. We will be honoring 75 years of rowing and 50 years for the women, inducting our new Hall of Fame members, introducing our new coach, Jack Kellmanson, and celebrating each and every one of you who have made and continue to make the Purdue Crew special.
From the Friday evening welcome at Ripple in Lafayette, to Saturday morning’s “easy row,” to boat dedications for the Thomas Family and for Art Euler, to the main celebration Saturday evening at the Shively Room, we’re looking forward to seeing you there!
In order for us to plan for food choices and events, order tickets by October 3rd!
For our alumni who may not be able to attend, we’ll have a follow-up in November! If you have questions, you can reach Ellen or Christian at emails provided in Agenda at the event-brite link, or at the purduecrew.com webpage.
In other news, we wanted to share that we also had a boat dedication April 13th for Bruce Blackwell (pictured above) who named each seat for former rowing colleagues with one exception. The bow seat was named for his wife Carol. Bruce provided an excellent detailed history gave this toast afterwards: “To the 'Bruce Blackwell'…..may she run true and free…. may those who occupy seats within…row her in a winning way…and bring her safely in.”
And for those who may not have seen this, we’d like to thank Larry Long ’64 for his idea and hard work to contact the Alumnus editor a year ago to build a story about the crew for our 75th. You can read the article here.
