PHI is pleased to announce a completely free program for the fall with the participation of artists from around the world. From our exterior facades on all four floors of the PHI Centre to our terrace, all our spaces will be inhabited. In addition to this free tour, the Centre is still offering We Live in an Ocean of Air, an immersive and multisensory installation on our relationship with nature as humans until January 16, 2022. A great opportunity to discover new emerging and accessible experiences.
Apparition - An Augmented Reality Tour by Acute Art
PHI presents Apparition, an augmented reality exhibition charting new territories in a digital age. Produced in collaboration with Acute Art, Apparition features four significant contemporary artists: Darren Bader, Marco Brambilla, Koo Jeong A, and Bjarne Melgaard. Invisible to the naked eye, they come to life on your phone. Once caught on camera, they appear as real as the environment around them. From October 27, 2021 to January 16, 2022.
River Path - An In-Situ Installation on the Windows of the Four Floors of the PHI Centre
The PHI Centre comes to life with an interactive multimedia installation of a motion-activated river on all four floors of the building.
The river is a perfect personification of our collective origins, history, and destination. Tiohtà:ke means "where the currents meet" in Mohawk language, and PHI sits where the Saint-Pierre river used to flow. Like water, citizens move together in an uninterrupted motion toward a future that still needs to be dreamed up. Many voices will be heard, inviting us to dream about our tomorrow. Using the river as a metaphor, this installation will serve as a poetic reminder of our collective journey and as a beacon to a brighter future. A PHI Studio production. Until spring 2022.
Living Sound - A Space Dedicated to Music
Tune out the everyday noise and immerse yourself in an ambient landscape at Living Sound. Featuring a stellar repertoire of artists from Constellation Records, this auditory installation will transport you out of the city and into another world of pure sound. Take a seat, cozy up in the warm, red glow of the space, and let the music carry you. Until January 2022.
This is the first program in collaboration with Constellation Records.
Poetry Films - Poetic Content from Montreal’s Black Community
Poetry Films is a creative accelerator that prioritizes emerging artists, filmmakers and content creators from Montreal’s Black community. This year, under the theme, How does Black creativity manifest? PHI asked applicants to submit a concept for the creation of a short, vertical poetry film. The three selected teams led by Bethyna Saint Laurent, M Mucyo, and Christian Boakye-Agyeman, will exhibit their short films at the PHI Centre, from November 13, 2021, to January 9, 2022. Poetry Films is presented in partnership with Black on Black Films, Six Cinquième and Journal Métro, with support from the SDC Vieux-Montréal.
