Welcome to the first edition of the SME Week Newsletter for 2022!
It is only the beginning of the year, and we are just about ready to start thinking about the 2022 edition of the European SME Week.
Through events, competitions and initiatives, this pan-European campaign helps existing entrepreneurs to find support and also encourages people to set up their own businesses. The SME Assembly, our flagship event, will take place towards the end of the year in a location we hope to share shortly.
As always, we would like to hear any stories regarding your start of the year and invite you to share any news with us for the Promoting Enterprise News Portal.
We would also like to introduce you to the new Your Europe page avalaible in Ukranian in this link, and encourage you to share it on your social media accounts.

This year’s edition of EU Industry Days brought together a multitude of sessions on industry challenges, opportunities and policy responses with a wide range of stakeholders. With a strong focus on SMEs, this edition opened discussions on their needs, the role of the cluster network, social entrepreneurship and the new SMEs fund, to name a few.
The event also focused on the role of young people in line with the Commission’s 2022 European Year of Youth in a series of conversations about social equality, youth unemployment and the precarious nature of work and the urgent call for sustainable and socially responsible business models. Kristina Dimova, winner of the Youth Essay Competition 2021, was among the inspiring young people invited to participate in one of the plenary sessions.
We have attended the key sessions on SMEs. You can find out all about this year's edition here.
Youth Essay Competition 2022
We are looking forward to the new edition of the Youth Essay Competition this year. This annual essay contest gives young people between 18 and 25 years old from an EU or COSME country the possibility to share their opinions on EU policy-makers, entrepreneurs and innovators.
We talked with Kristina Dimonva, the 22 years old winner of YEC 2021 after the event about what was the motivation behind her participation in the Competition, but also what was her main takeaway from last year’s SME Assembly. See here what she told us!
