Samantha Paul, a senior Marketing student with a concentration in Digital Marketing and Analytics, transformed theory into practice as an Influencer Marketing Intern at Power Digital Marketing Inc., an experience she describes as “invaluable, rewarding, and supportive.”
During her internship, Samantha joined the Social Team, diving into the marketing world where creativity meets a data driven strategy. Her responsibilities included building influencer lists, managing outreach, and creating reports for clients but her favorite part? “...getting to collaborate with other Interns and Strategists in the Influencer Social team to help bring influencer partnerships to life,” she shares.
One of the most insightful lessons Samantha learned was the importance of grounding every marketing decision in data. “...make sure there [are] data/numbers to support every decision [you’re] pitching to the client,” she explains. “That way you can help them better understand the "why" behind our influencer strategy and approach." This insight highlights a new understanding of marketing- not as just a creative endeavor but as a logical strategy with measurable impact. By learning how to turn creative ideas into data-backed strategies, Samantha is cultivating the kind of marketing mindset today’s businesses demand.
However, her summer was not just about learning, it was also about leading. Samantha and fellow interns pitched “a marketing plan for one of the largest businesses in the food and beverage industry. Our idea, pitch, and presentation was voted as the winner by some of Power Digital's highest employees, which was a very exciting and honorable recognition as an intern.”
Samantha’s advice to anyone interested in an internship comes from her own experience: “I discovered this internship through a mutual connection and never would have come across is if I didn't reach out to people and express my interest in wanting to find an internship within the marketing field,” she shared- a reminder to not be afraid to advocate for yourself.
