As this “sun-sational summer” continues, DER will highlight some great resources currently available for preparing proposals to MSU’s primary sponsors. You can find resources for each of the primary sponsors by visiting Sponsor Information.
This week we are featuring resources and tools for your next USDA proposal. When developing USDA proposals, the following essential instruments and resources will help you build your strongest proposal.
For many funding announcements, USDA limits the indirect cost amount for the overall award to 30 percent of Total Federal Funds Awarded (TFFA) under a research, education, or extension grant (30% TFFA = 42.85% TDC). If the budget does not include subawards, then you would follow the normal process of determining the lesser of the TFFA or MTDC F&A amount for MSU’s budget. Please review your funding announcement for specific instructions regarding applicable indirect rates. DER staff will assist in this process during your proposal budget development.
Watch for any Cost Share/Match requirements
in your solicitation (if applicable).
Most USDA proposals are submitted using MSU’s System-to-System (S2S) functionality in KR. Please provide additional time during the proposal development process for proposal setup and compliance review. DER staff will assist with this process.
Remember that DER is always here to help you navigate any proposal development difficulties and to support your successful proposal preparation and submission. If you have questions regarding your upcoming USDA proposal, please send an email to email@example.com.
