Vaccinations

Volunteering milestone

Volunteers across Lancashire and South Cumbria have collectively donated over 100,000 hours of their time to support the COVID-19 vaccination programme – a huge milestone for the region which is helping to protect residents against the virus.

Thank you to everyone who is working so hard to deliver the vaccination programme in our area!

How to get your vaccination in West Lancs

  • Book an appointment on the NHS website here
  • Phone for free on 119
  • Find a local walk-in clinic here

How to prove you've been vaccinated

An NHS COVID Pass shows your covid vaccination details (or your test results). This is known as your COVID-19 status.

You may be asked to show your pass to travel abroad, or at events and venues in England asking for proof of your COVID-19 status.

As long as you are registered with a GP, you can get the NHS Covid Pass - via the NHS App.  (This is not the same as the NHS Covid-19 app which alerts you if you've been close to others with the virus).

People aged 18 and over can get an NHS Covid Pass to use in the UK – find full details on the gov.uk, here.

Getting tested

If you don't have symptoms

One in three people with covid-19 infection have no symptoms, so getting tested twice a week is crucial to make sure we're not passing it on.

You can either:

  • Collect FREE tests from a symptom free local collection site to use at home later.  Find your nearest collection point here.

Or

  • Order FREE home testing kits online to be delivered to your home:  https://www.gov.uk/order-coron...

If you have symptoms

  • you will need to self-isolate and get a test here.
  • If you have a positive test, you can apply for financial support here.
Local support

The pandemic may be showing some signs of stabilising, but plenty of people are still struggling with its effects.

We've put together a list of local organisations who can offer help and support at this time.  Do pass on information on to anyone you know who needs a hand.

We've added to this over the last few weeks, but do  let us know of any we've missed....

Organisations that can help:
Social support
Support for women
Support for men
Emergency food supplies
Financial help - loans
Emergency furniture
Mental health support
Support organisations
Debt and benefits advice
Change for better

The pandemic has made many of us re-evaluate what's important and look at making some positive changes in our lives.

Here's some ideas we like this week:

Better health

A recent survey of over 5,000 adults showed that over 41% adults in England say they have put on weight since the first lockdown in March 2020.

The new NHS Better Health campaign has gathered lots of support resources and tools to help with losing weight and getting active.  Feeling healthier can start with simple changes here and there.

Find out how we can kickstart our health here.

Get online

Having the skills and confidence to get online is a part of everyday life.

It’s a great way to stay connected with friends and family, shop online and manage your money through online banking in the comfort of your own home.

If you would like to learn how to get online, why not sign up for the Borough Council’s new ‘We Are Digital’ training sessions?

You get one to one sessions – either at home or remotely – which cover all the basics of being online.
