Puppies Future Plans...
Greetings:
After checking with agencies, airlines, shelters, and more airlines, we have determined that we will need to make a big trip across the ocean to bring the 5 puppies to North America so we can ensure they find good homes.
Here in the Republic of Georgia, there are over half a million street dogs and cats in a country that has a population of only 4 million. So there are already too many dogs needing homes. For that, we need to raise the money for 2 crates and two plane tickets to fly them to a place we know and love and have used in the past to find our furever rescue pets when we adopted dogs many times over the years.
This place has high ratings, and a great record, and ensures the sterilization and vetting process for each pet they adopt. They have kindly agreed to take our little bundles and when it is safe for them to travel, my wife and I will take all 5 puppies and bring them to an organization we know will find the best homes for them.
Our other option was to put them back in the forest where we found them but with a track record of Taylor missing a tail, Momma having a serious mysterious wound on her side, and another dog in the area that has a missing leg, with no consistent food or shelter in the winter months, we know the puppies would not do well and most would die. We didnât ask for these pups, but since we found them, we arenât going to let them suffer.
Just because the world is not always the best place to live, doesnât mean we as people should sit back when we can take action and show we care. And if a few months and a few dollars are needed to do that, we are willing to sacrifice to ensure they have a chance at a good life.
And for those who might say âput them down,â that is not an option here. There is a no-kill policy in the country, so even if it was our choice or the choice of anyone, it is not allowed. No vet would safely perform the procedure. So if the options are a slow death and suffering or a happy life and good prospects, we know this is the best choice.
Thanks again for all your help and care. The cost for this is lower than our last pups as we are able to take all five in one trip. So between the crates and the cost of transporting them, it is a little more than US $5,000. That is only $1,000 per dog to ensure a tail-wagging good future.
So again thanks for your encouraging emails, prayers, and donations, and for going with us on our doggy journey.
Here are some pictures to make you smile and know that things are always better when you stand up and do the right thing. For us, part of that means caring for helpless critters. We are glad to know there are so many of you who are willing to do the same.
