Mystery in the Gulf: FSU researcher leads team to study conditions for plant survival in ocean desert

Angie Knapp, an associate professor in the Department of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Science, is part of a team of researchers from around the country that received a $2.3 million grant from the National Science Foundation to investigate how some forms of phytoplankton thrive in a nutrient-deficient region called the West Florida Shelf. Read more ...

FSU center announces initiative to advance pediatric transplant health

The Initiative for the Advancement of Pediatric Transplant Health Research is a new partnership between FSU's Center for the Study and Promotion of Communities, Families and Children and UF Health that aims to improve outcomes for pediatric transplant patients and their families. Michael Killian, an associate professor in the College of Social Work and a research scientist with the center, will lead the initiative’s research efforts. Read more ...

Cracking codes: FSU computer scientists look to develop method to improve app speed, efficiency

FSU Professor of Computer Science David Whalley and FSU-Panama City faculty member Gang-Ryung Uh, along with a professor from Michigan Technological University, have received a $1.2 million grant from the National Science Foundation to improve the speed of general computer application using a technique referred to as "vectorized instruction space," or VIS. Read more ...
