Through traveling, I've seen the effects of climate change, global warming, and pollution on ecosystems and communities. The way we live is putting pressure on the planet, and it's the people contributing the least that are effecting the most.
I saw plastic floating in the ocean and mountains of trash on the side of the road in Southeast Asia. I drove through the burned down orchards in California and walked on melting glaciers in Canada. I experienced heat waves, year after year, in Europe.
It is undeniable that we have become a burden on the earth. We disrupt the delicate balance of ecosystems and use up our precious resources. But it doesn't have to be that way.
We can change, we can be better. We are nothing if not intelligent, creative, and adaptable. So let's adapt. Let's change our lifestyles, demand change from our governments, and support companies and organizations that work towards a better future,
You cannot be a traveler and not care about the world. About the people, the animals, the nature. You cannot travel the world and not see it's beauty and value, and understand why it needs to be preserved. If you are a traveler, you need to become an activist.
That's why I'm an ambassador for Sustainable Travel and I urge you to take their Travel Better Pledge.
