Financial Services Sector the #1 Target of Cybercriminals

Cybercriminals go where the money is. Money is more easily accessible from banks if one can get malware onto bank systems. Threat actors can access usernames and passwords, withdraw money, and create fake debit cards, among other illicit activities. New IBM report finds the most frequently targeted industry in 2016 was financial services - where attacks increased 29% year-over-year.

New OWASP Top 10 Reveals Critical Weakness in Application Defenses

Many organizations have an application security program that works on a small part of their application portfolio, typically just the “critical” applications. Unfortunately, this approach leads to huge numbers of vulnerabilities and increasingly serious breaches. It's time to move from a dependence on the flawed process of vulnerability identification and remediation to a two-pronged approach that also protects organizations from attacks. Check out the new OWASP Top 10-style guide to help organizations focus on the key risks which reveals critical weakness in Application Defenses.

Like seatbelts, there's no point in rejecting EMV and PCI

PCI compliance and EMV are vital for business owners to understand, but they often confuse the two standards. PCI compliance is mandatory for all businesses that accept card payments. EMV is not mandatory, though it is strongly encouraged. They don’t necessarily need to know the intricate technicalities of PCI and EMV. All they need to know is that following the rules and recommendations for preventing data breaches and credit card fraud will serve their business well. It’s like not buckling your seatbelt when you drive: You may be able to get away with it for a while, but sooner or later, you’re likely to either get a ticket or get into an accident, no matter how safe a driver you are.

7 Ways Hackers Target Your Employees

Security is a business-wide responsibility. Every business that uses the Internet is responsible for creating a culture of security that will enhance business and consumer confidence. Whether you have a website, online accounts or any type of Web-based infrastructure, you are at risk for a cyberattack. It can take only one mistake by one of your employees, and your whole business will be at risk. That is right - only one employee under reconnaissance by cyberattackers can put your whole business at risk. Where are they being targeted, and what should they know? Find here the common strategies attackers use to target your employees.
