The School of Engineering’s Center for Clean Energy Engineering (C2E2) is seeking a self-motivated and creative student for the summer and academic year. The students will identify and write news content for the C2E2 website and LinkedIn as well as create and implement new marketing materials for the center. The student is expected to assist C2E2’s communications team to drive initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified student wishing to gain experience in journalism, marketing and communications, video production, interfacing with faculty, and learning about energy research activities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Interview and write news articles to keep our website and LinkedIn current with fresh content
- Interview faculty, students and industry partners for short news articles
- Create an annual marketing booklet utilizing InDesign software. Create a booklet cover and propose design ideas for the booklet for release in early 2024. The student will work with the Communications director to identify news articles for the booklet and create a design layout for the booklet.
- Assist the Communications director with taking photos during energy related symposiums and outreach events and writing short articles about the event.
- Assist in making/producing videos that showcase our faculty’s research and our graduate assistants work
- Search the UConn intranet for relevant news articles relating to energy and UConn’s energy faculty to post on C2E2’s LinkedIn
- Assist with publishing energy related content to LinkedIn and interfacing with the C2E2 coordinator for articles located on the website
- Create new designs for posters that illustrate the faculty and research conducted at the center and frame on the center’s walls
- Edit documents and materials to ensure accurate, high quality products
- Perform miscellaneous duties as required to keep the LinkedIn account well populated with the latest news materials and articles

Job Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, excellent knowledge of web and social media
- Must have demonstrated experience with posting on LinkedIn
- Responsible, motivated, creative, and reliable student who has a strong interest in applying their skillset in video production, taking photos, writing articles, marketing, and communications to help market the center
- Must be comfortable reaching out to faculty, students, and industry for interviews, and writing articles showcasing their research work
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- InDesign and Photoshop experience is a plus
Hours: 8-12 hours per week
Hourly Rate: $15.15 - $16.35/hour based on level of experience
