Slovak plane didn’t crash in 2006 because it contained evidence of crimes committed by the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA)

Disinformation claiming the intentional downing of a military plane over Slovakia in 2006 was due to its alleged transport of evidence of war crimes committed by the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). The news was published in Serbia and later in Bosnian media, despite that official information shows that the plane crashed due to a crew error. Slovak authorities found no evidence of “KLA crimes" found at the crash site.
The source of disinformation is Serbian lawyer Goran Petronijevic, known to the public for various unfounded statements. The article containing this disinformation was published in 20 media outlets, including Sputnik and RTRS, the public broadcaster in Republika Srpska.

All worlds’ governments didn’t order COVID-19 equipment 3 years ago

Social media users are sharing posts claiming the World Bank’s website shows that COVID-19 testing kits were purchased in 2017 and 2018, implying prior knowledge of the outbreak and as “evidence” that a pandemic of COVID-19 was planned. This is false. The World Bank explained the products had only been re-labelled with COVID-related descriptions in April 2020. Prior to that, the products had been listed since 2017, but not in relation to the pandemic. Raskrinkavanje has identified 10 different Facebook pages and YouTube channels that posted a video propagating this disinformation, with just under 10,000 interactions on Facebook.

Biden’s fabricated statements about Serbs have been around on the internet for 11 years

Joe Biden’s presidential candidacy has led to a great circulation of fabricated, unsubstantiated statements that are attributed to him. Various portals, social network pages and blogs claim that Biden over the years has made statements such as, "All Serbs should be put in Nazi concentration camps" and that Serbs are, "Illiterate degenerates, baby killers, butchers and rapists."
The earliest such claim was made in 2009 by the Serbian tabloid Alo, which published an article making such false assertions attributed to Biden while being interviews on CNN’s Larry King Live on August 1, 1993; however, Raskrinkavanje confirmed that CNN did not air any Larry King episodes that day. Moreover, no such statement was found in its archives.

The feud between film crew of the movie “Košare” didn’t happen as the result of NATO lobbying

In an almost comic article, Serbian Tanjug news agency firmly alleged that the quarrel within the film crew around the Serbian-made documentary "War Stories from Kosare" arose as a result of NATO lobbying. Tanjug based this assertion on a point of view given by a single Kosare veteran. Following Tanjug’s publication, six other websites picked up the story. The fact is that problems related to film production arose after the producers requested a change in the script, which in turn led to filming delays.

Trump didn’t order the withdrawal of the US from NATO

Serbian website “The Informer” falsely reported that U.S. President Donald Trump is withdrawing the United States from NATO, without any further substantiation of the claim elsewhere in the text. Rather, what the article actually reports is a statement by former National Security Adviser John Bolton, who indicated that there was a possibility that Trump would announce the withdrawal of the U.S. from NATO ahead of this year’s presidential election. This misleading information was re-posted on six other websites.

Reuters didn’t say that Russian vaccine for COVID-19 is the indicator of scientific superiority

Tanjug news agency, followed by many websites in Bosnia and Serbia, published a manipulative article claiming Reuters reported that "The Russian corona vaccine is an indicator of scientific superiority." An inspection of the original Reuters article shows that these allegations are not true. More precisely, Reuters stated in its article that it was Moscow that pointed out the progress in the field of the potential COVID-19 vaccine as "proof of its scientific superiority". Tanjug misinterpreted the text, publishing an article claiming that Reuters reported that the Russian vaccine was an "indicator of superiority." The Tanjug article was re-published on a total of 9 portals.

Vladimir Putin didn’t state that he would level in a single day anyone who dares to attack Serbia and Republika Srpska

Over 15 media outlets in the region manipulatively published disinformation claiming that Milorad Dodik, the Bosnian Serb leader, and Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, met in 2020. This is false. Actually, reports of such an alleged meeting were published in 2016 in the Serbian newspaper Kurir, claiming that Putin then stated that he would, "Level to the ground in a day anyone who dares to attack Serbia and Republika Srpska." Both the statement and the purported 2020 meeting were fabricated. Raskrinkavanje investigated all available official sources concerning meetings, statements and press conferences of these two politicians. No evidence was found in support of Putin’s alleged warning or any recent meeting. Nonetheless, this piece of disinformation was re-posted 237 times and had over 38500 interactions on Facebook.
