Talent for Lithuania - Record Beating Round

The 6th round of Talent for Lithuania program is stepping to the final stage - companies are interviewing candidates for their team. This spring, Talent for Lithuania has attracted 250 applicants from universities including Harvard University, University of Cambridge and London School of Economics. We are happy that more and more young Lithuanians from all around the world are determined to start their career in Lithuania bringing together international education and working experience! Status of Human Resources of Lithuania

Director of GLL took part in the discussion, dedicated to policymakers and organised by MOSTA (Research and Higher Education Monitoring and Analysis Centre) on their latest research and analysis of Status of Human Resources of Lithuania. Not only current status of HR in the country was covered, but also that of integration of professionals as well as positions of those who emigrate or come back from emigration. Interesting fact that 82% of people coming back to Lithuania after emigration choose to live in the towns and cities where they lived before leaving. Read more here.

We Connect Lithuania - Program Update

GLL Youth program We Connect Lithuania has attracted more than 30 young Lithuanians from USA, Canada, and Australia! We designed the program to enable them to have professional and volunteering experience at the entities of their interest, meet local overachievers, visit innovative companies. Main study fields of the participants are medicine, finance and banking, economics, international business, ecology, digital marketing, gaming, mathematics and statistics, politics and policy-making, biotechnologies and computer engineering. Lietuva³ Discussion on Dual Citizenship

On April 24, GLL together with Law Firm TRINITI continued the 4th season of Lietuva³ discussions with topic on dual citizenship. Panelists: dr. R. Baltaduonis, Head of the Lithuanian World Community and  Seimas Commission, M. Jackevičius,  journalist at Delfi.lt, dr. U. Neniškytė, neuroscientist at VU Life Sciences Center, V. Oleinikovas, Chairman of the Board of the Lithuanian Youth World Union have thoroughly analyzed its duties,   privileges, and the lack of political will.  Here you can find the article, the recording and photos of the event.

Global Connectors on Lithuanian Post Stamps

On the occasion of the Centennial of Restored Lithuania, Lietuva 4.000.000 has initiated the release of stamps featuring those that have contributed to uniting Lithuanians all over the world. GLL had a chance to offer the candidates from the network of professional diaspora and is happy to see them among the selected. Sixteen names have already been chosen by the selection committee where GLL is represented by GLL director Kotryna. Here are the names of leading connectors.

After GLL Forum - Updates

On December 28, on the date of Global Lithuanian Awards, GLL gathered global Lithuanians for the forum on the most important topics for the boost in the areas of 1) science (50 Global Professors of Lithuania), 2) innovative business (Lithuania as Unicorn Valley) and 3) regional development (Talent Attraction to Regions). Here are some updates on the progress of these areas in Lithuania. 

1) Within the program of Ministry of Science and Education in the amount of 20 million euros of EU Funds allocated for the attraction of international scientists, the Researcher Council of Lithuania has announced the invitation to researchers working globally to initiate the projects in Lithuanian research facilities - all the information in Lithuanian and in English.  

2) At the last online meeting of Lithuanian Professional Clubs Abroad, it was decided to engage diaspora professionals in Lithuanian startup investment and mentorship using LITBAN platform as it already has compiled the local market research data, listed potential startups and has established pitching, syndicating and investment processes. You are invited to Join!

3) On April 26, Lithuanian Association of Municipalities organized a specialized seminar on Regions Investors Choice, meant for 40 mayors and municipal administration staff. The seminar concentrated on the economic situation in Lithuanian regions, expert estimations and practical recommendations on business development, techniques of investment attraction paying attention to the specific features of the single region and specific actions of municipalities for the improvement of the situation. GLL Director Kotryna Stankutė gave the insights of global Lithuanians returning or planning to return to their home regions, bringing new business concepts and social change.

Lietuva³ Discussion on Justice | May 9 | Martynas Mažvydas National Library

GLL in cooperation with Law Firm TRINITI, National Martynas Mažvydas Library and LRT.lt invite to mark May 9 on your calendar and join for the discussion on justice in Lithuania. During the discussion moderated by Linas Sabaliauskas, we will try to find out why there is a feeling of mutual injustice in Lithuania.
