A fun way to find business ideas. Check out r/SomebodyMakeThis. It's a subreddit where people post about things they wish existed. A lot of the ideas aren't great, but you never know when an actual gem will show up. 

It can also be a great way to gauge interest in an idea. If you post about your idea and it gets a lot of upvotes, that might mean there's a market for it.

Tips from Gumroad sellers who have made over $100k. This article is filled with good advice.

For example:

1. "Ask people what they struggle with. Then create a solution for them and deliver it through Gumroad. It's really that simple."

2. "As creators, we often get fixated on dominating a market, or building something truly unique — this is a good mentality if you want to build a unicorn, but not useful if your goal is to build a lifestyle business. It’s not about taking over a market, but instead carving out a sustainable niche. A local pizza restaurant doesn’t expect to take over Pizza Hut, they just need to own the neighborhood around them..."

What's really interesting is how, as you read through the tips, you'll notice patterns. Although many of the creators sharing have vastly different businesses, there are similarities in the lessons they learned building them. 

Fun tip: After you read a creator's tip, check out their profile and see what they're selling. After all, each of the people sharing has earned over $100k on Gumroad alone. Might be more to learn by studying their products!

Launching a free vector art website and growing to 8 figures per year. This story is a good example of how freelance skills can translate into multiple business ideas. 

As a designer, Shawn Rubel first started Brusheezy as a free resource for things like Photoshop brushes. Then, he launched Vecteezy, another resource for designers, this time with free vector images. The site now has a paid Pro subscription, over 70 employees worldwide, and brings in 8 figures per year. 

Focus on building your skills, helping others, and who knows what business ideas you'll come up with along the way.

Worst financial advice. There may or may not be some things you end up disagreeing with in this article. Either way, it makes some good points, and even if you disagree with some of them, you'll learn something along the way.

My favorite worst piece of financial advice from the article? "Never use a credit card." Many would agree with this one, but hopefully, you read last week's letter to know why I think credit cards are one of the best financial tools available.

🔮 Crypto: The Bitcoin Futures ETF officially launched in the US on Tuesday and money started flowing into the crypto markets soon after. Bitcoin hit a new ATH on Wednesday and the total crypto market cap rose from ~$2.4 trillion on Tuesday to ~$2.6 trillion on Thursday.

The increase didn't last long though. By Friday, the total crypto market cap was down about $100 billion

📈 Stocks: Markets hit all-time highs last week with more great Q3 earnings reports being posted. Companies like Netflix, Tesla, United Airlines, Chipotle, and more beat earnings expectations. 

Snapchat missed estimates, with Apple's new advertising/privacy measures affecting their ad revenue.

With that in mind, it'll be interesting to see Facebook's upcoming earnings report since a massive part of their business is advertising.

The 11 investing commandments. This article doesn't necessarily share anything new, but it does share some basic investing principles in a fun way.
