Do you remember the year 2018?

I ask specifically because I will always remember that year. That was the year Dohful was dreamt of and started. That year I started baking again after such a long break. And after months of tastings and trials, Dohful was launched. 

It was also the year a revolution was started. And I'm here to share about that with you guys in today's Sunday Letter.

But before you do, this is not a boastful or bragging post guys, it's just plain and simple truth like I always tell you! 

As you might already know, both Chaman & I were quite unaware of this delicious thing called Cookies before we went on our honeymoon in Europe. 

It was over there that we experienced the soft-baked, fresh AF cookies and we immediately wanted to find out if such soft-baked cookies were available in India. 

So we searched far and wide for them. But came back empty every single time. 

Most people didn't make cookies, high-end bakeries included. And the few rare ones that did, couldn't serve them fresh because not many people bought them. So in the end, that meant no cookies for people like you and me. Especially the soft-baked ones we had fallen in love with.

Long story short, Dohful was started for you cookie lovers, by us cookie lovers.

Cut to 2020 when we blew up big. 

Our daily orders went from a single-digit per day to hundreds every day. 

Some totally unexpected things came to light - like cookies are the most travel-friendly baked goods ever. Our cookies have a 30 days shelf life that meant that they could be stock during the Covid lockdown. 

Our airtight packaging assured people that it could be sanitized and the cookies themselves could be warmed in the microwave. 

All in all, cookies started to become more and more popular for all the reasons we could have never imagined back when we were starting. 

So from corporate orders to wedding functions, cookies became the go-to gifts for everyone! 

And anyone who has tried Dohful cookies once came back for them again. So cookies were all over the map.

Our little cookie lover family was growing and we were happy. 

But as we grew, we noticed something else as well. It wasn't 2018 anymore. In the sense that we weren't the only ones selling cookies anymore. 

Some big, some small, a few more bakeries, and a lot of home bakers - all were selling cookies by the end of 2020. 

This kind of frenzy also happened when Ice creams were first coming to India. 

Back then, Arun Icecream (one of the biggest ice cream brands of South India) was just getting started and Kwality ice cream had also entered the game. 

In one of his talks Mr. Chandramogan (Chairman, Arun Icecreams) mentions how glad he was when Kwality and more players were coming to South India with Icecreams. 

Because that would only mean more and more people would be having icecreams and all he had to do was serve the best possible ice cream for the people to come and find him. 

To see a similar kind of thing (as small as it might be at the moment) happening for cookies as well just swells up my heart! 

When we started, by the end of 2018, we had to explain Soft Baked Cookies to people. But now, not only they are more known and popular, but they're loved and appreciated as much as the other baked goods. 

I don't know about you, but that's a revolution in my books! 

And it just makes me fuzzy in the heart to think that I had a part to play in this cookie revolution.  

Now all that's left to do is to give you the best possible cookies, every single time, for years to come! 😀
