Are we sitting at home now, waiting for the corona to pass so we can get on with our lives? Existing, waiting, reacting (and getting grumpier by the day, week, and month)? If so, don't stress over it. It is quite understandable.
I was just listening to another author's podcast. She said she could not write a word in three weeks and suddenly realised it had to do with denial. Why bother creating new routines when surely this will pass quickly. But this may not be the case. So she made the decision to write again and has started creating that new routine to get things done (and has written so many words last week I am definitely envious).
At some point this situation becomes the new normal. And then we should start living again. Doing things we can to make us feel better. Get off the couch and do something that lifts the spirits. Even if it is just one little thing. And do another tomorrow. And the day after that.
Study. Draw. Write. Clean the house. Contact friends and family. Do crossword puzzles - or real puzzles. Write your memoirs (no, it is not a bad idea - if you write down what has happened in your life and try to make it into a story, you'll learn heaps about yourself - no one says you'll have to publish what you write). Watch comedies. How about colouring books? Or doing miniature models? Jewellery making?
One day we will look back at all this and appreciate our freedom again. But even if we don't have it now, it doesn't stop us from living fully in the moment. If necessary, take your planner and jot down time to do something you enjoy. And then keep that appointment.
