Members may not realise it, but the committee is always striving to improve how KPS runs. At the August committee meeting, we decided to trial unmatted prints for our internal evaluations.
Matting prints has always been an issue, for while a mat finishes off an image nicely, they are time comsuming to make and can be costly to produce.
For the remainder of 2022, KPS will trial unmatted prints for our internal evaluations.
Of course, you are still welcome, even encouraged, to mat your images for the best presentation.
KPS will source suitable clear bags (photo friendly - not all plastics are), thin backing board and possibly rigid cardboard envelopes, all to protect your unmounted images if you choose to look after your prints.
Members could submit unmounted prints:
- As is, without any packaging/protection.
- In a clear bag.
- In a clear bag with backing board.
- In a clear bag in a rigid mailer.
- No bag but in a rigid mailer.
- In a clear bag with backing board in a rigid mailer.
We wil let you know when we have acquired these items and how much they will cost in a future newsletter. As with everything KPS does, we will try to strike a balance between cost to our members and the financial viability of our club.
We are doing this in an endeavour to encourage more prints in our image evaluations and will decide if we continue this at a later date.
We still have a few issues to sort out with this idea, so stay tuned.
We will update the website instructions to reflect this change as time and circumstance permit.
