Input needed about Host home regulation! Would you like to share your opinion about host homes? What is working and what is not? Have you had a good experience or bad experience? Share what you think!
The Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition, with the support of other advocacy organizations and individuals, filed a request to have Host Homes evaluated for regulation. This is called a Sunrise Review and is conducted by an office inside of the Division of Regulatory Agencies or DORA. There are three levels of regulation which are registration, certification, and licensure.
The Colorado Office of Policy, Research and Regulatory Reform which is inside of DORA is currently conducting a sunrise review of Host Home Residential Providers. Analysis is performed to determine if regulation of Host Home Residential Providers is necessary to protect the public, including people receiving services.
There are approximately 3,000 host homes in the state of Colorado.
If you have experienced or witnessed harm in a host home, please share your experience using this link.
To provide input on this review, please visit COPRRR's website.
DORA is also seeking names and contact information for people that should be interviewed. This includes people receiving host home services, Program Approved Service Agencies, host home providers, CCB case managers, advocates, community members, other providers, etc. Please use this link if you want to be interviewed.
