We have a great group of people who read scripture and lead prayers during Sunday worship ... but we are also looking for some new faces and voices to join the ranks! If you are interested, please let Geoff Duffy know. We schedule around your schedule ... you can read as little or as much as you like. 

Each week, people greet us and hand us a bulletin when we come into worship. We're looking for a few more people to join the ranks. The only qualification is a smile and the ability to arrive about 15 minutes before worship begins. This is a great ministry for families to do together! If you are interested, please let Geoff Duffy know.

All singers are invited to sing in the choir during worship on February 5. We will be singing a beautiful arrangement of Saint Francis' prayer, Make Me an Instrument of Your Peace. Just come to rehearsal on February 5 at 8:45am, and we'll learn the piece together! Let Geoff know you're planning on singing to get a copy of the music ahead of time. 

Alasia is currently in her second year at Northeastern Illinois University studying for her Bachelor degree in Music Education. Along with participating in the University Choir, she also has experience singing with the choir at Martin Temple AME Zion Church from 2019-2021 and at Sherman United Methodist Church during Fall of 2021 before COVID spikes caused rehearsals to be suspended. Since then, she's chosen to take some time focusing on her studies, but is excited to begin singing again outside of the academic setting. Welcome Alasia to WPC!

Everyone is invited to our annual Hot Cocoa Social! Drop in any time between 3:30-5pm and enjoy a cup of homemade hot chocolate with an enormous amount of topping choices! Bring a friend to this all-church intergenerational event.

There will be fun activities for the children along with Valentine Day crafts for everyone to enjoy. 

If you know you are coming, it will help us plan if you could let us know. Please let Nancy Holly know by February 10 if you plan on attending.

RSVP now for Dinner for 80! This is always a fun evening of meeting new friends and getting reacquainted with people you may have not seen in a while.

• 6:00pm: Gather at the church for drinks and appetizers.
• 6:45pm: Disperse to host homes for dinner in groups of 8–10.
• Once you have signed up, you will be asked to bring a salad, wine, bread, or dessert to your host’s home.
  
• Hosts will provide the main dish.

Our January book is Afterlives by Abdulrazak Gurnah. This Nobel Prize winning book was just announced as one of Barack Obama's favorite books for 2022. Novelist Maaza Mengiste has described Gurnah's works by saying: 'He has written work that is absolutely unflinching and yet at the same time completely compassionate and full of heart for people of East Africa. [...] He is writing stories that are often quiet stories of people who aren’t heard, but there’s an insistence there that we listen.'"
