So, you think being a writer is glamorous?

When I run into friends I haven't seen in a while and they ask me how my writing is going, they probably imagine it something like this:

Oh, to dream! What a luxury it would be to work on my book at the seaside wearing a straw hat and a gauzy dress while a gentle breeze flutters across my face.

That said, I certainly can't complain about my writing space, even if it is a cramped desk in a spare bedroom (or the living room couch or the patio if the weather is warm). This has been the setup since March 2020 when the pandemic began and my husband was forced to take over our home office. He programs a major-market radio station and requires much fancier equipment than I'll ever need, so I gladly gave up the space. 

Besides, I truly enjoy having him at home. We often brainstorm together and lean on each other for support when our days aren't going as planned. Most days around 10 am, we meet for coffee and a chat. Lately, we've been skipping lunch or having it separately, but we always make sure to finish our work in time for dinner together.

I will miss my husband's company when he goes back to the office, which I'm secretly hoping will only be part-time even after the pandemic is finally over. 😊
